Axel started introducing the second item. “This lighter acts like a mini grenade. It’s convenient to carry it around. Not to mention it packs quite a punch. It’s powerful enough to destroy a building, after all. Ah, let’s not forget about this baby!”
No matter hAxel’s age, he’d forever be a child at heart. He proceeded to flaunt the last gadget in
the box smugly. “Lyse loves jewelry, doesn’t she? I have this ring custom–made just for her! Look
at it! Isn’t it beautiful?”
Silas was curious about the ring. He was about to start fiddling with it when Axel suddenly gripped his wrist.
“Don’t touch it. That ring is capable of pricking you with venomous needles. The venom is even
stronger than that of a rattlesnake’s.”
Jonah looked down at his feet. “May God bless you. Amen.”
A look of fright appeared on Silas‘ face. “How could you give Lyse such dangerous weapons?”
“Pssh! You know nothing about how useful my gadgets are!”
Axel narrowed his eyes dangerously. “Jasper Beckett, that fucking piece of shit! How dare he
bully my sister! I’ve prepared those gifts just for him! Lyse will be the one deciding his fate!”

Silas was impressed by Axel’s ferocity.
“Axel, now that you’ve returned, how long do you plan on staying this time?” Jonah asked in
concem
“Half a month, give or take.”
Axel looked a little reluctant to leave after a short period of time.
He explained, “I need to fly to Mosgravia for an urgent mission. So, I need to travel there in advance just to make preparations. If it weren’t for that, I’d have liked to stay here and spend more time with Lyse.”
“Your job comes first. Silas and I will protect Lyse. So, don’t worry about her.”
Jonah paused briefly before asking in a softer tone, “Are you going to visit Dad? We were just talking about you a few days ago.”
“Nah. We tend to fight whenever I visit.” Axel waved dismissively, though he looked slightly gloomy.
Jonah and Silas exchanged looks. They felt a little sad.
Even Alyssa was starting to accept the fact that she had three mothers. Yet, Axel refused to forgive Winston for cheating on his mother with other women.
That was why he enrolled in a military academy and became a spy despite everyone’s protests. Axel proceeded to leave his hometown for long periods and worked elsewhere.
He’d rather avoid Winston for the rest of his life.
However, Axel found himself starting to miss his family more over the past two years. Perhaps the older he became, the more sentiment*l he got. The man frequently recalled the childhood. years he had spent with his siblings.
“Hey, Silas! Let’s go beat Jasper up!”
Axel hooked an arm around Silas‘ neck. They now shared a good relationship despite fighting just
moments ago.

“You’re on your own. Lyse warned us to not cause any trouble for Jas. I can’t go back on my word
now, can I?”
He quickly backed away from Axel.
Axel just chuckled in amusement. His lips then curled into a cheeky smirk.
