Chapter 18 Tanya Burns
Paige was confused when Annabelle suddenly stopped talking. Then, a familiar voice caught her
attention.
“Are you finished with dinner?”
Paige froze. It was Chris‘ voice.
Did Chris come over?
Did he recognize her?
Paige had her back facing him. How did he manage to tell it was her?
Maybe Chris saw her when she first entered the restaurant.
Paige slowly rose to her feet and turned around. She looked at Chris, who was a few feet away, and said with a smile, “Are you dining here too?”
Chris smirked at Paige. The girl was putting up a show in front of him.
“Yeah.” Chris nodded.
Paige was in an awkward position. Chris could have just left after his dinner. Why did he have to
come up to her?
Was he trying to brag about his lover?
It could be the beginning of his revenge.
Since the Quirks had disgraced Chris, Paige had been worried about his payback. However, Chris
had not made any moves in the few days they had been married, which made Paige on edge.
Now, Chris‘ revenge had begun.
She could finally relax.
Paige was ready to face anything Chris had in store for her.
She had read her fair share of romance novels, so she knew a thing or two about how male
protagonists could hurt female protagonists.
Chris took his lover out in public and acted intimately with her to rub Paige’s face and insult her.
It was one of a domineering CEO’s common tactics to get to his woman.
However, Chris could only torment her body. He would never get to her ment*lly.
It was because she did not love him.

Since she did not have tomantic feelings for him, she would not feel the heartache, anger, or
sadness. No matter how much he flaunted other women in front of her.
Chris nodded and said to Paige, “I had dinner here with a friend.”
“Oh.” Paige smiled and nodded at the woman beside Chris. “Hello.”
Tanya Burns nodded back at Paige with a smile. “Hi”
Then…
No one talked.
Lisa, Annabelle, and Millie were outsiders to the conversation.
Chris was not the type to talk.
Paige felt awkward, at a loss for what to say.
Tanya deliberately held her tongue. Paige could get the wrong idea for all she cared.
The silence was deafening.
In the end, Paige could not stand Chris‘ indifferent gaze anymore. She forced a smile and said, “It
might take a while for us to finish our dinner… Why don’t you go ahead first?”
“Then we should-” Tanya said.
Chris cut her off. “We’re fine.”
Tanya and Paige had no words.
“I’ll wait for you to finish,” Chris told Paige.
Paige looked at Tanya, then at Chris.
“Oh,” she said before turning back around and sitting. She proceeded to finish her food.
Standing nearby, Chris watched her eat.
Paige just lost her appetite.
Lisa, Annabelle, and Millie dared not insert themselves between the couple and quietly dined.
However, they would steal a glance at Chris on occasion.
With Chris watching them, it was difficult to focus on their food.
Tanya felt self–conscious. They were at a fancy restaurant with first–class service. The patrons at
the restaurant were of class. For her and Chris to stand there by a table, it attracted a lot of
unwanted attention.

Although she was used to being the center of attention, the unwanted attention now made her
uneasy.
She wanted to leave, but her pride stopped her.
Tanya was in a close encounter with Chris and Paige
She needed to find out more about Chris and Paige’s relationship.
Why did Chris marry Paige?
By right, Chris should hate the Quirks after what Sierra did to him. He should be taking his anger
out on the family, but instead, he married the Quirks‘ youngest daughter.
Tanya could not wrap her head around it.
She needed to know Chris‘ intention toward Paige.
Paige could barely eat under Chris‘ watchful eye. She took a few bites before putting down her
uténsil. She stood up and said, “I’m done.”
Chris gave a nod and looked at the other three girls.
Millie, Annabelle, and Lisa quickly put down their utensils.
“I’m full.”
“I’ve had enough too.”
Chris nodded his head and said, “Come on.”
Paige gave a nod and followed Chris out.
Once at the register, Chris footed the bill for Paige’s table, and the group exited the restaurant.
“It’s early. How about a couple of drinks?” Tanya suggested to Chris with a smile.
Chris glanced at Paige and replied to Tanya, “She’s too young to drink.”
Paige was lost for words.
She reached the legal age two years ago.
How was she young?
Tanya’s smile froze. However, she quickly pulled herself together. She cheerfully said, “You could stop her now, but she will eventually have to socialize. Is she supposed to refrain from drinking in
those social situations?”
Chris nodded. “That’s right.”
Tanya was speechless.
Paige believed Chris would not take her to social engagements,
He probably wanted to lock her up at home and discard her once he was done with her.
The man was cunning.
However, the Quirks owed him that much.
“Are you going straight home then?” Tanya asked.
