Chapter 5 Time
“Thank goodness I have time. Otherwise, you would never have made it over here today,” Chris said indifferently.
Paige’s face reddened.
Despite her slow pace, it took only a few steps to get to Chris.
She anxiously stood three feet away from Chris, who sat in bed.
Chris looked at Paige without a word.
Paige felt uneasy under his gaze, not knowing where to put her hands and legs. She nervously took a gulp and said, “Mr. Jewell…”
Chris suddenly grabbed her hand and yanked her toward him. Paige stumbled and fell onto the bed with him, crying out in surprise. Chris was on top of her, looking deep into her eyes.
His burning gaze made her jittery.
What was he trying to do?
“M-Mr. Jewell…” Her voice trembled with nerves.
Chris said nothing as he stared at her rosy cheeks.
There was something about Chris’ gaze that made her feel like prey.
Paige knew what Chris was thinking, even though she had no experience in the bedroom. She froze in shock and clutched the bedsheet tightly, her veins popping out.
Chris could sense her distress. However, he was not deterred. While she was nervous, he was not. He lowered his head, following his heart.
Instead of pain, she felt a numbing sensation.
Paige stared at Chris with widened eyes.
Despite their relationship, he made a pass at her.
Chris could not get enough of Paige. He leaned in for another kiss, but Paige freaked out and put her hands against his chest in defense.
He scowled at Paige in displeasure.
Paige’s nerves were on edge. Her heart raced as her supposed brother-in-law nearly went to first base with her. She swallowed hard and said cautiously, “Mr. Jewell… We can’t… You’re my brother-in-law.”
“I didn’t know you were into that,” Chris uttered aloofly.
Taken aback, Paige looked at Chris in confusion. She did not understand.
Into what?
“Does it thrill you to think of me as your brother-in-law?” Chris asked, his eyes bearing a cheeky taunt.
At a loss for words, she glared at Chris with a flushed face.
“I’m not into anything!” She angrily rebuked.
“Well, I don’t have that kink either, so don’t think of me as your brother-in-law,” Chris said.
Paige had no words.
He was a brother-in-law to her.
Paige had always seen Chris as an authority figure, so it was disrespectful to call him by his first name.
“I’m your husband,” Chris said.
Paige looked at Chris in surprise.
“No matter why I married you today, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re legally married. You’re my wife now. Understand?” Chris said, his eyes boring into Paige’s.
Paige was speechless.
While Paige understood where he was coming from, what about Sierra?
Chris knew what was on Paige’s mind by the look on her face.
“You don’t? I’ll make you understand.”
…
The Quirks left the hotel. Wendy comforted Sierra behind Bob’s back. “Don’t read too much into the situation, Sierra. We have time to rethink our plans.”
Sierra nodded in sorrow.
“Mom, Dad, I want to be alone. You should head home. I’m staying out tonight,” Sierra told Wendy and Bob.
“Where are you going alone?” Wendy asked, concerned.
“Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll be fine. I’m a grown-up. I won’t do anything st* pid,” Sierra replied.
Wendy was hesitant, but she relented with a nod in the end. “Alright, Sierra. Just don’t get wound up about it.”
Sierra forced a smile and nodded her head.
She watched her parents leave before turning back to the hotel. Sierra made her way to the front desk and said to the attendant, “I’m a relative of the bride. I’d like the room next to the honeymoon suite, please.”
The Jewells had booked the entire hotel for the night. Some of the wedding guests, who had traveled abroad or were intoxicated, were staying there.
