Chapter 9 Sister–in–Law
Sierra started to change her approach.
Before, Sierra behaved like a typical heiress when dating Chris. She was a gentle and virtuous lady.
Now, she was acting like a sad little bunny.
Chris told Paige, “Go on.”
Paige looked at Wendy and Sierra. Without a word, she went upstairs to pack her things.
“Chris…” Sierra stared at Chris with tear–filled eyes.
”
Chris glanced differently at Sierra. “I’d prefer if you call me Mr. Jewell since I’m your brother–in- law.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks as Sierra looked at Chris. She bit her lip to stop herself from sobbing, and her expression was heartbreaking.
Feeling for Sierra, Wendy put her arm around Sierra’s shoulder and said to Chris, “Sierra really loves you, Chris.”
Chris curled his lips at Wendy and asked sarcastically. “If she loves me, why did she get into another man’s bed?”
Wendy was upset.
It never crossed her mind that Chris would be rude to her.
Did he have no feelings for Sierra?
“I’m Paige’s husband, Wendy. What’s your intention of telling me that my sister–in–law loves me? Are you hoping I respond to her feelings? Have you thought about Paige? Paige is mine now,” Chris said in a chilling voice.
The statement confirmed that Paige and Chris had made things official on their wedding night.
Wendy was livid.
She had warned Paige against taking things far with Chris.
“Paige doesn’t love you,” Sierra uttered dryly.
Chris grinned.
“Wendy, I’m curious about your interest in breaking me and Paige up. How would it benefit you or the Quirks if we were to separate? Did you think I would simply move on to Sierra if things were
Furious and humiliated, Wendy snapped a resentful look at Chris.

“I should be clear on one thing, Wendy. The Quirks and Jewells would have long severed ties if not for Paige. I find it repulsive that Sierra throws herself at me.” Chris‘ aloof expression and tone conveyed clear taunting.
Chris was cruel and unyielding toward Wendy and Sierra.
Sierra broke down in tears.
Wendy saw red.
In all her life, Wendy had never been so humiliated.
Today, her son–in–law insulted her.
“I’m sorry for hurting you, Chris… I’m sorry…” Sierra apologized in sobs.
Ignoring her, Chris sat on the sofa and crossed his legs.
He turned his attention to his phone, not wanting to engage with Sierra Chris had made things clear with Sierra to stop her from living in a fantasy.
Sierra, on the other hand, kept looking at Chris and crying. However, Chris refused to give her the time of the day.
The fact that she was invisible to him was more hurtful than any vile words he could have said.
Sierra was filled with regret.
Why did she give in to temptation and sleep with James Burt?
Page pulled out her suitcase to pack her things into.
She did not plan on bringing everything.
After all, her relationship with Chris was still full of uncertainties.
Although they had a wedding ceremony, they had not yet filed for a marriage license. Without a marriage license, they were not legally married. Chris could leave Paige at any moment, and she would have no legal recourse.
Since the Quirks angered Chris, Paige had always believed that Chris married her out of obligation. to his family and to spite the Quirks. She was simply a tool to get revenge on the Quirks and
Sierra.
Her worth as a tool would diminish sooner or later

Paige packed her necessities for the seasons and daily use before carrying her suitcase down the
stairs.
From the top of the staircase, Paige looked down at the living room to find Wendy, Sierra, and Chris sitting on the sofa. Wendy was hugging Sierra’s shoulder and whispering in her ear while Chris stared at his phone with a stoic expression.
The air was heavy with unease.
The wheels of the suitcase dragged along the floor
Chris looked up and saw Paige standing at the top of the steps with the suitcase in hand. He furrowed his brows. “Is that all you have?”
Wendy and Sierra lifted their heads and looked over
“I packed some clothes and essentials. I have too much stuff, but I can always come back… to get more,” Paige said.
Chris looked at her and nodded. Without another word, he went upstairs. Then, he took the suitcase from Paige and helped her carry it down.
Paige had no words.
She was unsure of how to react to Chris‘ thoughtfulness and gentleness. She could feel her mother’s and Sierra’s eyes on her. Bracing herself, she followed Chris down the steps.
Sierra wailed harder at how considerate Chris was to Paige.
“Paige…” Forcing a smile, Sierra said, “I wish you and Chris a happy marriage. Don’t let me come between you.”
