Chapter 36 The Sudden Change of the Chairman
There were six companies who got the chance to compete for the bidding, among whom we Prosper Materials was the smallest company. That was to say, we were the least competitive one.
To be honest, I didn’t have any hope of success at all. I just came to distract Oswald.
All of the bidding companies were gathering in a large conference room, waiting for the project manager of Broadray Vision. The meeting aimed to provide a platform for the bidding companies to show their qualifications, approach the project manager, and impress Broadray Vision.
The appointed time had passed by 5 minutes, but the project manager didn’t show up. The people present certainly whispered to each other.
While everyone was whispering, the door of the conference room suddenly opened. All the people cast their glances, only to see a young man striding in. He wore a white shirt, black pants, and a black tie, tall and handsome. No one could tell his age from his appearance.
Everyone’s gaze was following him as he moved. There was a secretary and several project members following him. He walked in with his slender legs and then stood in front of the table, glancing at the people present and saying, “I apologize for keeping you waiting. Mr. Parker had something to do, so I will chair the meeting on his behalf. I’m Raymon Baxter. Glad to meet you!”
He didn’t say too much. After finishing his words, he sat in the chair, with the inborn elegant but a bit cool qualities.
The crowd made eye contact, speculating about the reason why Zack didn’t attend the meeting and why Broadray Vision appointed a whippersnapper to preside at such an important meeting. Two strong

competitors were clearly a bit displeased about such a change.
Raymon didn’t provide them with the chance to enquire, saying decisively, “We have a tight agenda, so let’s get started!”
Then, he asked one of the companies to speak up.

He didn’t take a glimpse at the people until he called the name Prosper Materials, his gaze resting on my face. He seemed to know that it was my turn to speak up. Actually, I was the last one.
Speaking up wasn’t hard on me. I used to top in our school in terms of eloquence skills. Though I had been a homebody these past few years, I wasn’t rusty. After all, I was the founder of Prosper Materials.
I gaye a professional introduction to my company, focusing on our purpose for cooperation as well as the most presentable offerings we launched. We might be unable to be a match for the other 5 competitors in terms of financial resources and qualifications, so I had to find a workaround.
I was inwardly thankful to be the last one to speak up, which offered me a chance to make the best of it.
Yet, after I finished my words, Raymon’s eyes still rested on me, as if waiting. I nodded to him awkwardly, “Thanks for your listening!”
He withdrew his eyes from me, made a brief summary, took away the information in our hands for further review, and then dismissed the meeting. He slightly bowed to the crowd and strode out of the conference
room.
The representatives of the bidding companies looked at each other in slight dismay. After a while, one representative of a rather bigger company said, “Isn’t it too rash? We don’t even know about the position of the young man. I’m afraid he’s just a temporary substitute for the project manager. Maybe he’s just a manager judging from his age. How could Broadray Vision appoint him to handle such an important issue? I don’t

think it can be a good company.”

After that, he rose to his feet and left in great displeasure, seemingly confident about his guess.
When the man took the lead to leave, the others followed him, with an elusive expression.
I wasn’t annoyed about that, followed the crowd at ease, left the building of Broadray Vision leisurely, and went back to the company with the
assistant.
Yet, I had gained something from the meeting. At least I had the key introductions to the other companies in mind, which meant that I had got a glimpse into my competitors. Such a meeting was the most effective and direct way to make me know something about them. We Prosper Materials were lucky enough to make it into the top six in the Building Material Industry of River City. I contented myself with that.
And I was sure that we would acquire more chances! An idea flashed through my mind.
Back at the office, I hurriedly got all the detailed information of the project of Broadray Vision prepared.
Right at that moment, I received a phone call from my hometown. My dad suffered from acute cerebral infarction, so my mom asked me to hurry
back home.
