Chapter 37 The Urgent Phone Call
This phone call shocked me. I hadn’t come back to my hometown for two years. Jocelyn was too small and Oswald was always busy. He was worried that I couldn’t take care of our daughter if I took her to my hometown alone. Thus, I hadn’t come back for two years.
I held my phone and was stunned. I was overwhelmed by the guilt.
My parents just had a daughter. After I went to university, I seldom came back home. When I had difficulties, I would ask them for help. But these years, I ignored them.
I didn’t take care of them like I did to Oswald’s parents. I always thought that my parents were young and healthy. However, getting sick was really a serious problem.
I was panicking. I was afraid that I didn’t have a chance to take care of them. They gave birth to me and raised me, but I didn’t do many things for them.
Especially, I even failed in my marriage. The family I loved so much might be apart. How could I face my parents?
I couldn’t think too much and immediately rushed to Oswald’s office. I cried, “Oswald, book a flight for me. I have to go home.”
Oswald was having a meeting with some managers. He looked at me in surprise. “What happened, Cassie?”
He waved to others and asked them to leave. He hugged me. “Take it easy. What happened?”
“My mom called me and said that my dad got seriously sick. She asked me to go home now!” Unconsciously, my tears rolled down my cheeks.

Till now, I found that I really needed a warm and firm hug when I had difficulties.
Oswald patted my back and comforted me, “Don’t worry. Don’t be anxious. It’s okay. I’ll book the flight for you. You go to your parents‘ home first. When I make arrangements for the company, I’ll go to find you. Don’t worry about Jocelyn. I’ll ask my mom to take care of her. Don’t cry. It will be okay.”
I buried my head in his arms and felt warm and safe. I hoped that I could rely on him for the rest of my life.
Oswald comforted me and asked his secretary, Zavier Benitez, to book a flight for me.
He said, “I’ll drive you home now. You can pack up some clothes. If you can’t come back soon, you have to prepare these things. Don’t cry, okay?”
I realized that I should go home first. I wiped the tears on my face and took my bag. Oswald and I left the company and went home.
It was cloudy outside. According to the weather report, there would be a typhoon. It seemed to be rainy and I felt panic.
After I packed up, Oswald sent me to the airport. His phone rang constantly. After he answered the phone, he told me, “I have an appointment with the manager of Hogbury Steel Window.”
“Then you should go. I’m OK,” I said to Oswald, and didn’t want to delay his business.
He hugged me and insisted, “I’ll watch you go through security. I really want to go with you. But I have to make arrangements for the company. You have to go first. Be careful and take care of yourself.”
Hearing this, I felt warm at this moment. I thought if only he hadn’t betrayed me.

“OK, I promise. These years, we owe your parents a lot. We’re too busy and ignore them. You can stay with them for more days this time. When I make arrangements for the company, I’ll go visit them too,” Oswald said gently and earnestly.
I admitted that I was touched.
Oswald reached out to wipe my tears from my face. “I’ll ask the finance staff to transfer some money to you. Don’t worry about money. We can afford the medical expenses. It’s our duty. Go. I’ll watch you in.”
I sniffed and walked forward. I looked back at Oswald, who stood in the crowd, several times with–mixed feelings.
When I reached the gate, I looked back again. He disappeared into the crowd. I was somewhat anxious and tried to find him. However, I couldn’t see his figure and came to my senses.
